Wood Badge Training for this Fall

We’ve had a great year. There are a number of training opportunities coming up to help improve our skills and program. The forms are attached.  The group will cover the registration cost for members of the group.

Part 1 – This initial training addresses basic program planning, the badge system, policy, and using the outdoors. This is also a great opportunity to network with other leaders to get ideas and and hatch plans for shared events.

Part 2 – This is more advanced training intended to go into much further depth on program planning and outdoor skills. Like the part 1, this is a great opportunity to meet other leaders and network. Unlike the part 1, we’ll be camping the whole time and will have more time to experiment with program ideas. You must have your part 1 and at least a year of group experience before you can take your part 2.

Apple Day 2011

We need the support of all families to make this fundraiser work. We depend on it to subsidize families who need it and to purchase equipment for all members to use. If you are a member, make sure you come in uniform. If you are a parent, please come prepared to help encourage and supervise all the youth members.

There are three opportunities to participate:

1. Friday, October 14 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at Parliament and Carlton. We’ll meet at the pillar on the southeast corner.
2. Saturday, October 15 from 9am to noon or so at St. Lawrence Market. We’ll meet near the fountain at the north market. St. Lawrence is where we get most of our financial support and is where we need the most youth. In addition, if we’re facing bad weather all weekend, St. Lawrence is where we’ll focus our energies and we’ll likely stay here until two or three in the afternoon as there is some shelter and indoor space to interact with people in.
3. Saturday, October 15 from noon or so, until 4pm on Parliament St. at Carlton. We’ll meet at the pillar on the southeast corner.

The wind up for 2010/2011

Our end of year Picnic was a great success with decent weather for a change. There was lots of food and fun. We said goodbye to a great leader and welcomed two new ones. We’re getting ready for summer camps at Haliburton Scout Reserve and on the Madawaska River. We’re ordering group badges for our uniforms. We’re hatching grand plans for next season and think it’s going to be our best one ever. See you all soon!
