Environment Projects

bigstockphoto_Environmental_icon_on_white_ba_5536932One of the things Scouts need to do is environmental projects. This is a requirement of some of our badges. Here are a couple of upcoming projects put on by the local Conservation Authority that would qualify.

Saturday, June 1, 10am-noon – Marie Curtis Forest Restoration Planting

Help protect and restore a mature forest at the mouth of Etobicoke Creek. Enter the park from Lake Shore Blvd. W., meet in the southern-most parking lot on the west side of Etobicoke Creek.  Partner: Toronto and Region Conservation Authority

If you aren’t able to get a drive, you could take the Queen Streetcar to Longbranch and walk to the park: Google Maps Link

Saturday, June 8, 10am-noon – Crothers Woods Trail Build

Join the Natural Environment Trails Program http://www.toronto.ca/trails as we continue to build and maintain trails in Crothers Woods. We will bring all the equipment required and show you how to build sustainable trails. Meet at the Pottery Rd trailhead (Pottery Rd and Bayview Avenue). Contact trails@toronto.ca for more information.

If you aren’t able to get a drive, you could take the TTC to Broadview and Mortimer and walk down Pottery Road: Google Maps Link, or you could even just walk up the Don River ravine from Riverdale Park to Pottery Road.
